Meet Sanda
Registered Clinical Counsellor
I believe that we are all resilient beings, in the process of healing and growing; we have the capacity to explore new ways of living, being and connecting.
With over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I support people to move past anxiety, low mood, family and relationship conflict, and build a deeper connection with themselves. Clients often say I’m grounded, relatable and funny; they feel at ease in my presence. I’d love to help you break through feeling “stuck” or overwhelmed in your life, to reignite a deeper sense of worthiness and confidence, and build strengths.
You are a unique constellation of lived experiences, and I want to collaborate with you to co-create counselling sessions that meet your needs and goals. Over the years, I’ve incorporated various therapeutic modalities to best fit my clients. I am also certified in trauma-informed EMDR therapy, which helps people shift long-held negative beliefs about themselves, and process disturbing or traumatic events.
My diasporic identity grows from my family’s migration across continents and countries over many generations. I was born in South East Asia, and immigrated to Canada with my family as a child. As a ciswoman and POC, my lived experience has provided me the ability to hold the nuances, contradictions, and complexities of intersecting identities. As a therapist, I honour the ways our connection to intergenerational wisdom of survival, resistance, and resilience are woven into our sense of self.
I have Master’s level education in Counselling Psychology from City University of Seattle. I value inclusivity, and as a lifelong learner, I seek continual training in feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and decolonizing frameworks.
Outside of the counselling room, being in nature fills my cup. I enjoy running, hiking, yoga, and collecting rocks during my nature walks. You may also find me exploring new places to eat, drinking tea, cooking, spending time with loved ones, and listening to podcasts.
